Riverside, Riverside County
In 1873 Eliza Tibbets planted two navel orange trees from Brazil in her Riverside yard. Cuttings from those trees spread across Southern California and launched the state citrus industry. One of the parent trees still grows at the corner of Magnolia and Arlington avenues, protected as a California Historical Landmark.
